Ambrolauri is the administrative centre of the region.

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti consists of 4 administrative districts: Ambrolauri, Lentekhi, Oni, Tsageri.

There are 256 settlements in the region of which:

3 cities - Ambrolauri, Oni and Tsageri;
2 towns - Lentekhi and Kharistvala;
251 villages.

The largest part of Racha-Lechkhumi is a mountainous area and the economy heavily relies on agriculture. The infrastructure is poor mainly consisting of narrow and winding roads, which connect settlements with each other. A helicopter is often the only transport mean to reach towns, Ambrolauri and Oni in winters.

Main activities of the region are potato growing and animal farming, especially cattle. Vine is also cultivated in some areas, especially in lowlands of Tsageri and Ambrolauri, where the most part of production is concentrated.

Main places of tourist interest:

• Nikortsminda church
• Barakoni cathedral
• Khotevi fortress
